[Debichem-devel] question regarding package RDKit

Dear maintainers of debichem-devel,

previously, I enjoyed a parallel installation of RDKit (for Python 2) in
Linux Xubuntu 18.04 LTS side by side to a more modern installation of RDKit
for Python3 in Linux Debian 10/bullseye testing. Some of my code used
already was running in Python3 and the newer RDKit only.

Mid August, I had to reset some of my Debian installation. To my dismay,
however, RDKit no longer is found in Debian's repositories at all. This
is true, including today 2020-09-14, for kernel 5.8.0-1-amd64.

I thus like to ask about the package RDKit its availability in Debian,
because according to [1], the release package 202004 package apparently was
retracted from Debian testing's repositories in August while a newer version
202003.5 is listed. RDKit's project page outlines an alternative set up
which however requires the previous installation of Anaconda Python -- given
the positive experience of RDKit working with Debian's default Python, I
prefer to skip setting up a second python interpreter altogether. When will
the program be back in the repositories?

With best regards

Norwid Behrnd
