Other questions from a developer... because now I'm curious.. XD
How the "promotion" works?
Are you using some special software to pass packages from unstable to
testing?
Maybe exists a way to automatize some kind of "dependency check" before the
"promotion" to the testing repository.
Just to avoid this lack of consistency between modules and kernel.
Something that say:
"hey, aufs require kernel 4.8 and you have the 4.7. Please wait the kernel
upgrade"
