I like the idea of every freedom box running an OT server.

In this way everyone potentially becomes their own bank, which could
be kind of handy if the banking system ever suffers from the risk of
collapse we saw in 2008.

Given the framework nature of OT you dont need to trade bitcoins, gold
or cash to start with.  You can simply have a karma system among
freedom box users which encourages people to contribute to the project
and also shows who has done what.
