I am sure it could be used, and it would be trivial if we go with my
proposal to use a freedombox-setup deb.

Yeah.  In my rewrite, it is no longer used to populate the chroot.

I have not been able to find any traces of plinth being activated, nor
any idea how it is to be set up, so I have no idea.

Yes.  Either we just start uploading to Debian, or we make some other
repository for this purpose.
