I did.  And the package was accepted into NEW after this change.  I
also added code in setup.d/ to put it in /home/fbx/ on the freedombox.

Your comment about "equally buggy" make me suspect you do not know the
setup.d/ directory in freedombox-setup?  As far as I can tell, having
a file in the package and doing stuff in setup.d/ are fundamentally
different.

But I must admit, I am not sure what the point of the fbx user and its
README file is, so I leave it to others to answer that question.  So
far I have kept it as it was under the assumtion that those who
designed the freedombox setup intended it to be there.  I suggest you
follow up on

to continue the discussion about the predefined users on the
freedombox.

The predefined users with known passwords are a security problem as I
see it, and the README is not shown to normal users of Plinth, so I
fail to see the point of having it in /home/fbx/.
