Hi everyone,

In February 2020, the "Freedom in the Cloud" speech that founded the
FreedomBox project will turn 10 years old, which means that our project
will also turn 10 years old. This is a **huge** milestone for
FreedomBox. To commemorate the 10 year milestone, the FreedomBox
Foundation invites our community to New York City for the "FreedomBox
Turns 10 Hackathon" in November!

Please join us!

===Location===
Jerome Greene Hall Room 103
Columbia Law School
435 West 116th Street
New York, New York 10027
United States of America

===Date & Time (in local time zone)===
Saturday, November 16th, 2019, 9:00am-5:00pm

===Program===

The hackathon will be split into two sessions. You are welcome to attend
one or both sessions. Eben Moglen will deliver a speech in between
Sessions 1 and 2.

Note: Though the schedule of the program is final, we may revise some of
the details of each session. If we make revisions, you can expect to be
notified via email.

9:00am-12:00pm: Session 1: Contributor Discussion Session

     -What: The discussion will be about how to implement our
development goals for the next year. The discussion will be guided by a
printout of development goals written in advance by the core team.

     -Who is involved: FreedomBox contributors (i.e. developers,
designers, testers, translators, and forum contributors). The intent is
for this discussion to include people who already contribute to
FreedomBox and understand our project. Newcomers are, however, welcome
to come and listen to the discussion.

12:00pm-1:15pm: Free lunch is served, hackathon participants arrive

12:15pm-1:15pm: Eben Moglen delivers a speech

1:15pm-5:00pm: Session 2: Hackathon Session

     -What: Three hackathon activities will be led by the FreedomBox
core team

      (1) Installfest: learn how to set up a FreedomBox

      (2) Development environment: learn how to set up your development
environment

      (3) Guided coding: code for FreedomBox with our team

     -Who is involved: General public. The intent is to involve
anyone--beginners and veterans--in the hackathon.
