Yes, however the distance is greater than that. I am not aware of any
affiliation Ubuntu has with gNewSense, and would be surprised if there was
any.

If you visit ubuntu.com and search for gNewSense, there is a single hit where
gNewSense was listed as a derivative distribution. Over on the Ubuntu forums
pages, there are no forums dedicated to gNewSense, or even any threads that I
could find.

Further, gNewSense doesn't fit the *buntu distribution naming conventions, and
the websites look completely different, as do the project logos.

In short, if you are on the Ubuntu.com website, you are almost certainly not
going to hear about gNewSense. Even if you managed to do so, you won't have
any reason to believe that the Ubuntu project would support (or want to have
anything to do with) the gNewSense distribution. This is what the Debian
project and distribution should be to non-free.
