Hi Nigel,
here our proposal to present FusionInventory and GLPI at FOSDEM in the config
management devroom :
Title :
FusionInventory and GLPI
Abstract :
FusionInventory is a set of tools to inventory assets on a network. Data is
collected by an agent written in perl for the agent part, and then sent to a
server written in PHP. With these tools you can get an inventory of hardware
and software, either locally or remotely with SNMP. The same agent is running
on all major OSes from Linux to commercial unices, through Windows.
GLPI is an asset management tool, written in PHP, and it's goal is to have
some persistance of the inventory data. With GLPI you can follow the full
lifecycle of your assets, including all administrative data that can be
harvested, and the history of incidents reported into the integrated helpdesk
solution.
Both projects have a french core of participants, and are now engaged in a
process of internationalisation of their team. They are widely used in France,
in administrations and small to big companies, and also wordwide.
Speaker :
Guillaume Rousse is developer in the FusionInventory project, he works as
system engineer during the day, hacks perl code during the night, and drown
people as scuba diving instructor the rest of the time.
Walid Nouh is a member of the GLPI development team.
PS : a large number of the teams of both projects will be present at FOSDEM.
