Can you see if you still have this problem if you change the '#if 0'  
to '#if 1' on line 237 of src/hid_opening.c?

We had some trouble where the kernel would block when you release a  
USB interface held on the device. The kernel should clean up after  
the device is closed, but apparently the cleanup is not immediate.
