It seems that you are using an old version of libhid. There should be  
more information in this error message. Where did you download it?

Also, it is slightly exasperating to try and debug all of these  
problems without having any knowledge of the internal firmware of the  
HID device. You may want to start from something that works, and  
trace the USB transactions there.
