[PATCH] Fix test suite and add logging

Hi guys,

I've been getting acquainted with the code and wanted to send off a
tiny patch.  The test suite now runs cleanly and logs so that it's
easier to see where a test failed.

Sorry for not putting the patch inline; turns out I'll need to find a
new MUA since GMail's web interface doesn't preserve spacing properly
:)
