These are all implementations of the Megatec protocol, so if  
megatec_usb can't talk to the UPS, I'm not too surprised that these  
don't talk with it either. Just to make sure there is nothing wrong  
with the UPS, could you try the bundled software on a Windows box? If  
possible, with usbsnoop running (but for a first try, just being able  
to monitor at all would be helpful).
