Hi Kjell,
I'm having a bit of trouble getting the driver to load. I am using nut 2.0.2
and bcmxcp 0.08 I downloaded from
<http://web.telia.com/~u50205618/downloads.html>
Here is my current ups.conf
[root at encoda02 etc]# pwd
/usr/local/ups/etc
[root at encoda02 etc]# cat ups.conf
[hpr5500]
driver = bcmxcp
port = /dev/ttyS0
baud_rate = 19200
desc = "Encoda02"
Here is what I get:
[root at encoda02 etc]# /usr/local/ups/bin/upsdrvctl start
Network UPS Tools - UPS driver controller 2.0.2
Network UPS Tools - BCMXCP UPS driver 0.08 (2.0.2)
Fatal error: 'baud_rate' is not a valid variable name for this driver.
Look in the man page or call this driver with -h for a list of
valid variable names and flags.
Without the line
baud_rate = 19200
I get:
[root at encoda02 etc]# cat ups.conf
[hpr5500]
driver = bcmxcp
port = /dev/ttyS0
# baud_rate = 19200
desc = "Encoda02"
[root at encoda02 etc]# /usr/local/ups/bin/upsdrvctl start
Network UPS Tools - UPS driver controller 2.0.2
Network UPS Tools - BCMXCP UPS driver 0.08 (2.0.2)

I have verified that the /dev/ttyS0 works with a serial breakout box and
minicom. If I disconnect the serial cable at the UPS and use a jumper on the
breakout box to wrap the data from pin 2 to 3, I get character echos on
minicom. I followed the instructions about ownership and permissions for
/dev/ttyS0.
This is RHEL3.
[root at encoda02 etc]# uname -a
Linux encoda02 2.4.21-27.0.2.ELsmp #1 SMP Wed Jan 12 23:35:44 EST 2005 i686
i686 i386 GNU/Linux
When I tried to find reference to baud_rate in the bcmxcp driver, there were
none.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Denny

Hi Denny.
Btw if you don't set the baud_rate in the config, it goes into
baud-hunting. And it would report the rate it connect at.
Then you may set it in the config to get a faster start-up.
Look at the man page for the driver.
Pleas report any problems/success to me.
Kjell
