hidups or newhidups? I may have missed an email, sorry. Point being,
2.0.3 seems to have the necessary logic to include bcmxcp_usb in 'make
usb' if libusb devel headers are installed.

The hidups part of the configure/Makefile.in only checks for the
kernel hiddev header file, IIRC. So it is entirely possible that
hidups (and energizerups?) would build, but the libusb-based drivers
wouldn't.

John: what does 'grep LIBUSB config.log' return?
