Look in the 'genericups' man page where the use of the serial lines is
explained.

You can use any of the RS232 serial inputs if you're making your own
serial cable. I suggest to pick one of the UPS types already defined since
it will save you from the trouble of having to use the override option to
define your own cable layout.
