OK, my fault ... trying to work at 1h00 is not the best time to find the 
"hidden" make install-conf line !!

May I recommend - add this as an option in the ./configure line and add the 
documentation as an extra right at the top of the list of the various 
./configure options?

Sorry for the fault on my isde, but if I can miss this, so can many others 
... :-P
