You need to specify in upsd.users an allowfrom line to allow a master. See
'man 5 upsd.conf' for a more detailed explanation and some examples. If
you already did this, verify that you specified an ACL from upsd.conf and
not an IP-address or -range (which is wrong).

There can be mainly two reasons. If this happens every day at the same
time (or the interval between these is *very* constant), this might be a
selftest of the UPS. It can also be a small glitch in the mains. One of
the UPS'es I have is particularly picky about this. It will even trigger
on the distribution transformer around the corner stepping to a different
tap (which happens usually early in the morning and late in the
afternoon).
