Thanks for your reply.  I'm actually not
too worried about this, since (almost)
anyone who can log in to our server
needs to be physically here to do it.
So, they can just press the power button
if they really want to.

One of the bosses kids switched off power to the
UPS (and server) a few weeks ago.

That's when we realized that:-

1: The battery in the UPS was dead.
2: Nobody had ever installed monitoring software.
3: There are too many idiots in the world.

Items 1 and 2 have been rectified.

Are you saying that an unprivileged user
cannot execute upsdrvctl shutdown ?

That's not easy for me to test without
talking some small risk :)

But I'll try out some of upsdrvctl's other
commands later as a non root user
and see what happens.. Thanks again :)
