[Nut-upsuser] OMNIPLUS1000LCD driver failed to start (exit status=1)

I have a new TRIPP LITE OMNIPLUS1000LCD connected via USB and I need help getting it up and running.  So far /etc/init.d/ups start fails with the following message:
