[Nut-upsuser] APC Smart-UPS 1000 USB not compatible?

APC 5G support was added to NUT 2.6.0.
you seem to be running Maverick, as per your NUT version.
so you will have to try Natty packages, which are 2.6.0:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/natty/nut
