It's really not necessary to use a pastebin for a one-line configuration file...

I would recommend changing the password once you put this system into production.

What other startup and debugging steps did you take?

For testing on Debian, I would try 'sudo /lib/nut/blazer_usb -a salicru -DDD'

If that works, you can ^C that and run 'sudo /etc/init.d/nut-server start'.
