mmh.. the logs don't look good.

Some UPSes don't communicate through both serial and USB at the same
time, some even refuse to work when you change from USB to serial and
viceversa unless you reboot them, so maybe it's worth trying to unplug
the USB from the UPS, reboot the UPS and then plug the serial cable
and see if it works.

Also:
- which are the specs and configuration of the serial port on your computer?
- the serial cable was shipped with the UPS?
- did the UPS come with some sort of controling software? If so, does it work?
