Dear NUT project,
I am the Independent Submissions Editor (ISE) for the RFC Series. The RFC
Series is commonly know as the publication venue for standards
specifications coming from the IETF. The Independent Submissions Stream is
a small set of RFCs that are published outside the IETF and without IETF
review.
Roger Price has approached me for publication of
draft-rprice-ups-management-protocol [1] as an Informational RFC in the
Independent Submissions Stream. The document describes "the
command/response protocol currently used in the management of
Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) units and other power devices often
deployed in small offices, and in IT installations subject to an erratic
public power supply."
This work is obviously related to the work of the NUT project, and the
document references NUT throughout with a special description of the
project in Section 2.7.
The purpose of this email is to encourage reviews of the document prior to
publication. Note that the document attempts to describe the state of the
art, not add features or functions. Reviews of the technical accuracy and
the clarity of the document are particularly welcome, and should be sent
to me at rfc-ise at rfc-editor.org (I shall not be monitoring this email
list). Review comments arriving before 19th January would be most
appreciated.
Kind regards,
Adrian
