python file offlineimap password

Hi 

Apologies if this is in an FAQ or example somewhere but I couldn't find
it.

I would like to feed a password to offlineimap using gpg but I can't
seem to achieve this. I figured I could use a python function to call
gpg and return the output but I can't seem to figure out the syntax.
Does anyone have an example of how to do something like this?

It seems to me like if I do this:

...
remotepass=functionname
...

it will just pass functionname as the password.
