I get the same problem even on 6.0.3. It is non-deterministic: it
happens on some machines and not others. I see it much more often on old
slow machines using early CPUs. I therefore suspect that this is a
concurrency issue. "Single threading (-1 switch)" does not reliably
help: in any case, htop shows several threads even in that case.
So far, I have not had time to investigate properly. I have a variety
of machines, several quite old, some quite slow and with a variety
of architectures. offlineimap behaves differently on them all, and many
of them appear to suffer from problems which seem to "smell" of basic
concurrency problems.
This isn't of much help, but at least you are not alone ...
