questions for upgrading to newest stable version.

Looking to upgrade ASAP from 6.2.0 on a system with 70GB of email.
1) What's the latest tested reliable and stable release suitable for a production box?  
2) Recommended install/upgrade procedure on debian lenny 5?  
3) Settings that will do a conservative transparent switchover to the new low cpu usage sqlite local database ?
