[PATCH] fix hang because of infinite loop reading EOF

Just for the archive, the behavior we see with SSL and reads seems
strikingly similar to 

http://bugs.python.org/issue1380952
(it even uses gmail as example and doesn't need big attachments)

If that bugs had not been fixed in 2006 (not in python2.4, another
reason to deprecate SSL usage for offlineimap with python2.4), I would
say we are seeing it. Perhaps there are similar problems in the current
python ssl implementation?
