The download link at GitHub for 6.5.3 is still broken --
  https://github.com/spaetz/offlineimap/downloads
says "File was not found" and the standard URL for GitHub download,
  http://cloud.github.com/downloads/spaetz/offlineimap/offlineimap-v6.5.3.tar.gz
returns small document with error.

I understand that I can use
  https://github.com/spaetz/offlineimap/tarball/v6.5.3
but it poses two problems for distro packaging:

 - this tarball has a piece of a hash in the name and in the
   top-level directory name (and hashes are different), so it
   adds some additional moves, at least for the upgrading of the
   FreeBSD port;

 - GitHub uses download tickets for the generated tarballs, so
   it also adds to the needed machinery; static tarballs (that are
   currently hosted from cloud.github.com) are directly downloadable,
   so it needs no download tickets that again saves some moves.

It will be very handy to be able to use the directly-tagged downloads,
because it is just easier for the packagers. Can it be done?

Thanks!
