I just looked at another mail client (notmuch) ion whose miailing list there was a similar
discussion, (see  http://article.gmane.org/gmane.mail.notmuch.general/12411 for an idea on how to
do it with notmuch).

Also: looking at http://notmuchmail.org/howto/#index2h2, I guess an idea would be to use maildir
flags or imap flags?

But I must admit  I am not that familiar with these things either.
