synchronizing the wrong direction

Having a slight issue with offlineimap.

I'm synchronizing my Gmail account to a local dovecot server.  Yesterday
everything was working fine, but today mail is only synchronizing from
gmail to dovecot.  I can split mail and have it removed from the inbox,
but seen flags and new mail in local labels are not propagated back to
gmail.  (Seen flags are overwritten from gmail.)
