Thanks for the reply. I have not had time to look into this further.
Indeed, python has many flaws, despite it's popularity :-) But maybe it
is one of the best of the OO bunch, which may not be saying much...

It seems that offlineimap generally seems to survive this error,
although it may need to be restarted.
