Wed May 30 20:02:45 UTC 2012

Please find, for review, the debconf templates for the nova source
package. Given how close we're from the release, I'm speeding up this
process and thus didn't work on package descriptions (debian/control).

This review will last from Wednesday, May 30, 2012 to Saturday, June 09, 2012.

Please send reviews as unified diffs (diff -u) against the original
files. Comments about your proposed changes will be appreciated.

Your review should be sent as an answer to this mail.

When appropriate, I will send intermediate requests for review, with
"[RFRn]" (n>=2) as a subject tag.

When we will reach a consensus, I send a "Last Chance For
Comments" mail with "[LCFC]" as a subject tag.

Finally, a summary will be sent to the review bug report,
and a mail will be sent to this list with "[BTS]" as a subject tag.

+

This template *must* be more explicit. From what I read in the .config
and .postinst scripts, the point is whether to start Nova stuff at
boot. So, just say this.

 Template: nova-common/configure_db
 Type: boolean
 Default: false
-_Description: Set up a database for nova?
- No database has been set up for nova to use. Before
- continuing, you should make sure you have:
+_Description: Set up a database for Nova?

Capitalize Nova.

Rephrase the second sentence to better explain that user have choices
: they either can setup a database...but have an alternative option if
they don't want to (or if they can't).

  .
- - the server host name (that server must allow TCP connections
-    from this machine);
- - a username and password to access the database.
- - A database type that you want to use.
+ * the database server host name (this server must allow

+ * the type of database management software you want to use.
  .
- If some of these requirements are missing, reject this option and
- run with regular sqlite support.
+ If you don't choose this option, no database will be setup and Nova

  .
- You can change this setting later on by running 'dpkg-reconfigure
- -plow nova-common
+ You can change this setting later on by running "dpkg-reconfigure
+ -plow nova-common".

Standardize on enumeration with bullets, and correct punctuation.

Explain what kind of "server" we need

"this" or "that"? Justin?

Standardize SQLite spelling. Also make it clear that refusing is not
only when doesnt have the "requirements" but also if one prefers using
an SQLite setup.

Standardize quotes.

Description: OpenStack Compute - EC2 API frontend
OpenStack is a reliable cloud infrastructure. Its mission is to produce
the ubiquitous cloud computing platform that will meet the needs of public
and private cloud providers regardless of size, by being simple to implement
 and massively scalable.
 .
OpenStack Compute, codenamed Nova, is a cloud computing fabric controller. In
addition to its "native" API (the OpenStack API), it also supports the Amazon

different hypervisors (KVM and Xen to name a few), different database backends
(SQLite, MySQL, and PostgreSQL, for instance), different types of user
