Control: severity -1 serious

Hello,

It would be very welcome with atleast a statement on this bug report
that was filed 1.5 years ago now and is becoming increasingly
problematic.

The parl-desktop package is the sole reverse dependency of
gnome-system-tools.

The gnome-system-tools has been deprecated and unmaintained upstream
for many years, more info in #888670
There are no real plans for how the debian package is going to get
maintained, and most likely it'll end up removed when it becomes
completely unrealistic to keep it around anymore.
(Personally with the amount of really problematic bugs that are known
with this piece of software that noone is even attempting to address,
I'd say it's a dis-service to our users to offer it... but that's just
me.)

With the python2 removal efforts we're trying to get rid of some gnome
packages that has been deprecated and unmaintained for very many years
(as it's not going to get ported).
One of those packages are gnome-doc-utils (which was superseeded by yelp
about a decade ago).

The gnome-system-tools is basically the last remaining piece which needs
to stop using gnome-doc-utils -- and it needs someone to do the effort
of porting it to yelp -- and noone has any remove plan for who's going
to do that.....

We're basically at a point where gnome-system-tools needs to be removed
now, which means this bug report really needs attention!

Should parl-desktop (and all of its reverse dependencies) also be
removed with gnome-system-tools or should the dependency be dropped?

Regards,
Andreas Henriksson
