[parted-devel] parted and GPT on Intel iMacs

Hi list,

after successfully shrinking a HFS+ partition (journal disabled)  
using parted on an Intel iMac (which uses a GPT partitioning scheme),  
the partition in question did not appear under MacOS X after the  
subsequent reboot. However I had no trouble mounting it under Linux.

The cause of this behavior seems to be parted giving the partition a  
Microsoft Basic data GUID after the resize. The patch (relative to  
1.7.0rc1) attached to this message fixes this problem by setting an  
appropriate Apple GUID on HFS and HFS+ partitions, which has resolved  
the issue for me.
