Jim,
I would personally like to restrict commits on the stable-1.8.x branch
to me or Otavio. I like having the edge branch open for all of us to
commit on (after patch review, of course). But I would like to treat
the stable branch a bit differently.
Commit your changes to edge. If I like it for stable, I'll cherry pick
from edge to stable, which works well.
