I've just pushed the following change sets:

These two re-enable FAT file-system support:
    fat-FS: do not modify fat file system support
    Revert "Fix compile failures."

The rest are no-semantic-change changes:
    doc: update NEWS
    build: use newer bootstrap script
    build: update gnulib submodule to latest
    maint: update most copyright year lists to include 2009
    tests: enable more syntax-checks
    tests: enable a few syntax-checks
