That was my thinking as well, and util-linux's fdisk seems to think so
too, but Hans de Goede skipped this on 2.6 kernels in commit 2a6936fa.
 Hans, you wrote that you spoke with some kernel folks that said this
was not an issue any more in 2.6 kernels.  Could you shed some more
light on this because it appears that it still is?
