I don't have enough expertise to review Arvin's patch for correctness, but from
what I understand it seems to automate the process of deciding whether RO or RW
is needed. I'm all for automation, because this would automatically benefit all
users without them having to set "read_only" flag manually.

So, unless there's something wrong or otherwise bad, I would prefer Arvin's
patch over mine.
