[Parted-maintainers] Bug#557044: Bug #557044 - Parted 1.8.8.git.2009.07.19 not informing the kernel of changes to the partition table

This problem still exists in parted-2.1 as released.  This can be seen 
in the following GParted bug report comment:

A fix for this problem was included in the parted-2.2 release.
