FYI: I converted the Debian parted git repository to git-dpm today.
I've been using this for my packages with substantial collections of
patches (and even for those that don't) of late, and I've found it to be
much easier to manage.  I wrote up my thoughts on it for grub2 here, and
all this still applies:

I wanted to get this done before we start on 3.x, as it's a much more
pleasant way to do big upstream merges.
