I recently discovered that fatresize 1.0.2-7+b1 (distributed with Debian Jessie) has a bug where it subtly corrupts fat32 partitions. I haven't been able to tell what exactly is wrong with the partition after being resized but the symptoms are that while linux can mount and read/write it just fine windows and dos cannot use the partition. Windows insists that the partition is unformatted and offers to format it.
In regressing the problem I found that fatresize 1.0.2-6 (distributed with Debian Wheezy) does not have this problem.
