Package: parted<br>Version: 1.7.1-5.1<br>Severity: normal<br><br>I have created a Debian Live system on a 2 GB USB key.<br>Here is what it looks like on the USB key:<br><br><span style="font-family: courier new,monospace;">[root@cobra] /root>fdisk -l /dev/sdb</span><br style="font-family: courier new,monospace;">
<span style="font-family: courier new,monospace;">Disk /dev/sdb: 2013 MB, 2013265920 bytes</span><br style="font-family: courier new,monospace;"><span style="font-family: courier new,monospace;">255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 244 cylinders</span><br style="font-family: courier new,monospace;">
<span style="font-family: courier new,monospace;">Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes</span><br style="font-family: courier new,monospace;"><span style="font-family: courier new,monospace;">Disk identifier: 0x0007a8d3</span><br style="font-family: courier new,monospace;">
<span style="font-family: courier new,monospace;"> Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System</span><br style="font-family: courier new,monospace;"><span style="font-family: courier new,monospace;"> /dev/sdb1 * 1 101 811251 83 Linux</span><br>
<br>You see there is about 1.2 GB free after that Linux partition.<br><br>I am trying to move that Linux partition to the end of the 2 GB USB key.<br>This way I will be able to create a 1.2 GB FAT32 partition at the beginning of the USB key.<br>
<br>Here is what I am doing:<br><span style="font-family: courier new,monospace;">[root@cobra] /root>parted /dev/sdb move 1 1200M 0M</span><br style="font-family: courier new,monospace;"><span style="font-family: courier new,monospace;">Error: The file system is bigger than its volume!</span><br>
<br>Ouch ! parted won't let me move the partition !<br><br>See also Debian Bug 467481 I submitted on Feb 25<br><br>Would be nice if this could be fixed :)<br><br><span style="font-family: courier new,monospace;">-- System Information:</span><br style="font-family: courier new, monospace;">
