Thanks, I'll forward this upstream too.

I assume the test suite doesn't pass on hurd yet? I did notice the
5.10.0-25 log [1] which seems to be run with DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=nocheck.

I already have this change pending for 5.10.1-1:

  * Don't test .ph file syntax when DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS contains "nocheck"
    or "x-perl-notest"

which would also have fixed the immediate problem. Naturally, your patch
is the preferred solution :)
