We read
you can change the default $VAR prefix to something else. See
$Data::Dumper::Varname and $Data::Dumper::Terse below.
But to change or delete the "$" itself one would have to do
use Data::Dumper;
$Data::Dumper::Terse = 1;
print $id, ' => ', Dumper( \%h );
