Source: perl
Version: 5.34.0-4
Severity: serious
Control: block -1 by 1014280
The perl package recently started failing its autopkgtest checks
in testing.
# Failed test 'no potential packages for new Provides/Replaces/Breaks found in the archive'
# at debian/t/control.t line 303.
# got: 'libtext-balanced-perl'
# expected: ''
# Looks like you failed 1 test of 590.
debian/t/control.t ..
This is because libtext-balanced-perl got introduced in the archive
and we need to add corresponding metadata for it in the perl package.
A complication is that pdl has added an unversioned dependency on
libtext-balanced-perl while it really needs a newer one. So making the
perl core packages Provide libtext-balanced-perl will break pdl.
I've filed a separate bug about this, and would prefer to have
pdl changed first.
