Hi, sorry for the late reply. I don't quite understand what you are
asking for. Adding a (1) suffix to facilitate hyperlinking to the dpkg
man page ?

The source in cpan/ExtUtils-MakeMaker/bin/instmodsh is POD
markup, and it currently reads

  On Debian system, B<core> and B<vendor> modules are managed by C<dpkg>. 

I suspect L<dpkg(1)> is what we want. That would render to

  \fBdpkg\fR\|(1)

with pod2man, and

  <a href="http://man.he.net/man1/dpkg">dpkg(1)</a>

with pod2html.
