[Piuparts-devel] Unclear failure for asclock (left over files in /var)

Hello,
in my last upload for asclock I added a man page translation in
Portugese (a German one was already included in earlier versions). 
Running "dpkg --contents" on the deb (I checked autobuild
ones as well!) shows that the man page is properly included in
./usr/share/man/pt/man1/asclock.1x.gz
(and nothing is put into /var or a subdirectory). 

Now piuparts throws an error[1]:

In the entire log file I don't see any indication of problems with the 
pt man page (and the German one seems to work fine, although it is
created technically the same). Judging on the output, some command
called (only) the Portugese man page and a formatted version was
cached in /var/cache/man/pt/cat1, which created those directories.
IMHO this is harmless, as contents in /var are not meant to be vital
for a system and may be removed (especially in /var/cache).

Judging from this analyis, this looks like a false positive (though I
wonder that it hasn't been caused by the German man page earlier). But
if it is a mistake, what did do wrong?
