(how) is that technically different to dangling symlinks? Those are detected 
already, over 8000 packages are affected.

About your extented wish to do this for installs with recommends and without, 
I'd first like to see #604406 fixed and then gain support for libeatmydata, 
before doing so.

Help is certainly very much welcome, hacking piuparts is fun & easy, it's how 
I learned python :-)
