Sorry it took so long to get to your bug report. The accessibility team
recently took over maintenance of this package and I am going through
the bug reports.

Does this still happen? If so, could you please install xvkbd-dbgsym and
get a full backtrace? Without it I am afraid there isn't anything to act
upon and I'll have to close the bug in a couple of months.
