What Samuel says sounds right to me. GTK 2 being deprecated doesn't
directly affect other packages that still depend on it: the packages
and compiler/linker invocations involved remain the same. The effect of
deprecation is indirect: it won't get new features or non-critical bug
fixes, and might get removed (particularly if a critical bug is found
and can't easily be fixed).
